Villasimius – Sardinia (Italy)

Villasimius is a beautiful Mediterranean resort, located in the southernmost tip of South-East coast of Sardinia.

The inhabited center is a town of about 3000 inhabitants and in summer it welcomes tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world, here attracted by its unspoilt sea. The town has a relatively recent life: in the previous centuries charcoal was produced throughout the territory (hence the name of the original town of Carbonara that was renamed in 1862 Villasimius), but for the first half of last century the main activities were agriculture and fishing and it is only in the 60’s that the first real tourists come to our shores. Since then the prestige of Villasimius grows continuosly and more and more people choose to spend their vacation on its beautiful beaches.

Its famous beaches are an endless sequence of bays, natural gulfs, cliffs, lovely coves that make it one of the most popular destinations in the field of Italian and international tourism, also thanks to its marina of 700-800 berths, with shuttle service connecting to the town.

Villasimius, its territory and the whole area of sea off its coast, including islands, constitute the Protected Marine Area of Capo Carbonara, an institution that confirms the beauty and rarity of some species of flora and fauna kept in our territory.

Besides the sea and the enviable natural beauties, we obviously have to emphasize the cultural attractions related to Sardinian tradition, such as festivals and religious celebrations, and archaeological evidence of an ancient history rich in suggestions that you can learn and discover at the local Archaeological Museum.
